THE SACRED SPACE BETWEEN YOUR SPINE AND RIBS
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE MOST MERCIFUL AND BENEFICENT
The Quran states that sperm comes from the area of the body “between the backbone and the ribs,” but Western medicine, and biologists think that in actuality, sperm is produced and stored in the scrotum.
According to the Quran, Chapter 86, Verses 5–7, man is created from a fluid that emerges from between the backbone and ribs. The verse reads, “Now let man but think from what he is created! He is created from a drop emitted, proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs”. You must be thinking why I am explaining this to you and the reason is not that I am a Muslim, but as an Acupuncturist I believe it is true but HOW? I will explain to you according to Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In Chinese Medicine, the study of organs starts with the Kidneys, as Kidneys are the root of life, the root of energy, the foundation of yin and yang, and the foundation of the water and fire within the body.
Kidneys store essence also known as jing in Chinese medicine. Prenatal jing from the parents (heredity) is the origin of the body, hence kidneys are called the root of life. Since prenatal jing is the basis of postnatal energy and kidneys are the root of energy.
Prenatal essence or we can say DNA comes before everything in the body, even before the division into yin and yang. So, kidneys are the starting point and the foundation of yin and yang, and water and fire within the body. Prenatal essence or jing cannot be replaced, it can only be conserved. On the other hand, postnatal essence can be replenished from the energies from the food we eat and drink.
Other functions of the kidneys apart from storing essence are they help in birth, growth, development, and reproduction. Kidneys rule bones, water, and reception of energy (Qi).
Now jing or essence is only a concept in Chinese medicine and it is nothing that cannot be measured in any way. Jing imbalances are manifested through some symptoms. In Chinese medicine, semen was often associated with one’s life force, spiritual essence, or masculinity.
Qigong and Chinese medicine have a special place for semen. They believe in a form of energy called pinyin. It is believed to be the “essence” that a person attempts to accumulate in life.
“Jing” is sexual energy and this reduces each time a person has an ejaculation and is thus called an “energy suicide”. The Qigong theory suggests that many pathways transfer energy into the sexual organs and ejaculation leads to loss of this energy.
The earliest records of Qigong come from the jin wen (writings on bronzes) from the Zhou dynasty (ca. 1100–221 BC).
In addition to urinary function, the kidney also has many functions, such as storing essence and dominating reproduction, growth, and development, which is the root of earlier heaven. Whether a man’s reproductive function is sound depends on the filling of the essence in the kidney. If the kidney essence is full, the reproductive and growth functions will be vigorous. An insufficient kidney essence is similar to a barren land where crops are no longer grown. In the “Suwen · Ancient Innocence Theory” Tiangui theory indicates that the kidney serves as the core and congenital essence is fundamental. The kidney is closely related to reproductive function.
According to the theory of TCM(traditional Chinese medicine), infertility mostly involves kidney deficiency with less essence and insufficient essence, and OATor is a deficiency of kidney-Yang. Treatment should be based on tonifying the kidney. Oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT) is a condition that causes low sperm count, motility, and abnormal sperm morphology, and is the most common cause of male infertility.
Deficiency of the Kidney Yang and especially deficiency of kidney jing (yang aspect) can produce symptoms such as sore cold back, weakness and coldness in the knees, reduced sexual desire, impotence, sterility, SPERMATORRHOEA, loose teeth, and even deafness. Kidneys, according to Chinese medicine are said to store willpower, and if kidneys, especially kidney yang are deficient, this may further lead to a lack of drive and apathy, or in the case of reproduction can cause a lack of sexual drive. The function of yang energy is to hold things in, and if yang is deficient, spermatorrhoea might occur, the leakage of sperm without erection or orgasm.
Another disharmony of the kidneys is deficient kidney yin or deficient kidney jing (yin aspect) which can cause weak memory, nocturnal emissions with dreams, and premature ejaculation.

Lower dantian (jing)
Known as the vessel of jing, the lower dan tian is believed to be one of the three treasures, or essences, vital to a person’s health.

Jing “is the most substantial energy, composed of genetic material, and is the source of energy from which the physical body is created.

Jing is believed to be a person’s essence. It’s said to be related to the wisdom of our genetic code, reproduction, and the gifts passed down to us from our parents.
According to a trusted source (link below), the jing is closely related to the kidneys and adrenal glands and is also related to the survival response.
“Jing gives a person physical life force and the will to survive, “Jing has similarities to Kundalini… in that it’s a seat of strength and both physical and sexual power, a person’s body consciousness, and sense of place.”
The lower dan tian is believed by some to be a combination of the root and sacral chakras and it’s located two finger widths below the navel and parallel to the perineum.
Jing is believed to be like Kundalini energy. It may feel like heat within the body because of its transformative qualities. It’s referred to as an internal spiritual fire that can be cultivated to awaken the upper energy centers.
This “root of power” is seated between the kidneys and helps to circulate water and blood throughout the body, says Soffer. Read more about the dantian energy centres below-
